Tonnarello: The Heart of Trastevere’s Italian Cuisine

Cuisine: Italian

Tonnarello in Trastevere is one of those places where you feel the energy before you even step inside. The neighborhood is alive with music, chatter, and clinking glasses — and this spot sits at the center of it all. It’s always packed, and for good reason.

We started with the Roman artichokes — soft, garlicky, and full of flavor. Each bite was tender and perfectly seasoned. Then came the pesto pasta, and wow. The pasta was cooked just right, and the pesto was fresh, creamy, and loaded with the aroma of basil and Parmigiano. Homemade but elevated, like your Italian friend’s mom just made it fresh for lunch.

The steak we ordered was another hit — juicy, seasoned beautifully, and cooked exactly how we asked.

Pesto and Steak – light and flavorful
Tiramisu – fresh and delicious

Tonnarello has that effortless charm you travel for — a buzzing atmosphere, soul-warming food, and service that feels casual but attentive. You might have to wait for a table, but trust me, it’s worth every second.
