Casa Ora: A Taste of Venezuela in the Heart of Brooklyn

Cuisine: Venezuelan

Brooklyn never disappoints when it comes to culinary gems, and my recent visit to Casa Ora truly brought me back home—literally and emotionally. This Michelin Guide-listed restaurant is a cozy, warmly decorated space that beautifully honors Venezuelan tradition while elevating it with a refined touch.

A Warm Welcome & Authentic Flavors: From the moment we walked in, the ambiance at Casa Ora felt like a comforting embrace. The dim lighting, lush hanging plants, vintage mirrors, and rustic-chic decor created an atmosphere that was both elegant and intimate.

What We Ordered

  • Empanaditas de Ensueño

We started with an unforgettable selection of empanaditas, each one a masterpiece:

  • Creamy cheese
  • Juicy shredded chicken
  • Flavor-packed shredded meat
  • Delicately flaky monkfish

They were all golden, crispy, and bursting with flavor—dipping them in the vibrant house-made sauces was the perfect touch.

  • Tuna That Melts in Your Mouth

The fresh tuna dish was a standout—light, bright, and beautifully balanced. It had just the right citrusy from passion fruit notes to make it pop while staying true to the clean, fresh flavors of the sea.

Delicate, citrus-kissed fresh tuna that felt like a dive into the Caribbean coast.
  • The National Treasure: Pabellón Criollo

Then came the pabellón criollo, Venezuela’s beloved national dish. A savory combination of shredded beef, black beans, rice, fried sweet plantains, and a sunny-side-up egg—it was pure comfort. Rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying.

Sweet Ending: Chicha

To round it all off, we had chicha, a traditional Venezuelan rice-based drink topped with cinnamon. Creamy, slightly sweet, and nostalgic—it was the perfect final note.

Creamy, dreamy la chicha—a sweet Venezuelan classic served cold and topped with cinnamon, and condensed milk.

This place is not just about food—Casa Ora is an experience. From the charming wall art to the refined yet soulful menu, it’s clear that every detail is intentional. It’s Venezuelan hospitality at its finest, and every dish tells a story.
