Experience Seasonal Cuisine at Field & Vine in Somerville

Cuisine: Farm to Table

Tucked away in Somerville, Massachusetts, Field & Vine offers a farm-to-table dining experience that feels both intimate and exciting. We came here to celebrate my birthday, and it could not have been a better choice — from the beautiful, rustic setting to the small plates bursting with flavor, everything felt special.

The concept at Field & Vine leans into seasonal ingredients, and the menu reads almost like a love letter to local farms. The plates are small, meant for sharing, and every single dish we ordered delivered in creativity and taste. Every flavor felt deliberate, bold, and balanced.

We started with a Tuna Carpaccio, featuring parsnip purée, beets, tarragon, and sesame. The freshness of the tuna combined with the earthy beets and aromatic tarragon made for a delightful beginning.

Next, the Beef Tartare stood out with its nuoc cham aioli, fried shallots, peanuts, house-made chips, and a generous mix of herbs. The combination of textures and flavors was both innovative and satisfying.

The Cheddar and Scallion Cornbread, served with miso butter and spicy pickles, was a comforting dish with a twist. The miso butter added a unique depth, making it a memorable part of the meal.

The Grilled Fish was perfectly cooked, accompanied by curried pumpkin purée, Jimmy Nardello peppers, pepita chili crisp, and pickled ginger. The balance of flavors and the quality of the fish highlighted the restaurant’s commitment to fresh, local ingredients.

We also had the Duck – Rich and flavorful. It was seared perfectly with a crisp skin and a juicy interior. Paired with root vegetables, it brought a depth of flavor that felt luxurious but grounded.

Beyond the food, the atmosphere at Field & Vine is unforgettable. The open kitchen hums in the background, while the dining room is cozy but full of energy. Twinkling lights woven into a creative wooden installation above the kitchen give the space a warm, almost magical feeling.

The service was just as good as the food: super friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the menu. You could tell everyone working there cared about creating a great experience.

Field & Vine is absolutely worth a visit — whether you’re celebrating something special or just want to experience one of the best farm-to-table restaurants around. We’re already planning a return trip!
